1.Are children welcome?

a.Yes. We always enjoy having young people on our trips. It’s a pleasure to introduce a child to fishing and the great outdoors. We do a number of family trips every season. All children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

2.Where do we meet? What time?

a.Please contact our office a day or two before our scheduled trip date trip to set a time and place to meet. Depending on where you are staying, there are several convenient meeting spots.

3.What time do trips start and end?

a.For full day or morning half day trips we will usually meet at 7:00am. For half day evening trips we will usually meet between 4 & 5pm depending on sunset. If you would like to schedule a full day trip that goes into the evening; we can certainly arrange that for you as well. We are more than happy to work with you to set a time that works well with your schedule.

4.What kind of fish will we find in Ely lakes?

a.Smallmouth Bass fishing and Walleye fishing have always been a large part of Minnesota fishing. Muskie fishing and Northern Pike fishing are also very popular for Ely, MN fishing vacations.

5.Can we fish in the motorized portion of the Boundary Waters?

a.Yes, if permits are available (additional DNR fees apply). You must apply for permits before Jan. 15th of each year so plan ahead. You can also contact our office over the winter to make arrangements. There is an additional $20.00 portage fee for Boundary Waters trips.

6.Can I book full day trips on consecutive days?

a.Yes. If the schedule permits, you can book consecutive days.

7.Do you only schedule one group at a time regardless of size?

a.Yes. We want to make sure that you are fishing with people you know and enjoy. We will only book one group on a boat at a time. You will never be “paired up” with another person or group.

8. What is provided? (Rods, Reels, Tackle, etc.)


a.We use only top quality gear on our trips and you are welcome to use any of it no additional charge. Feel free to bring your own gear if you like. We provide the following:
• Rods and Reels
• Bait
• Tackle
• Gas
• Life Jackets

9.What should I bring? (Equipment, Food, Clothing, etc.)

a.You may bring your own fishing gear if you would like but it is not necessary.
Here are the essentials that you should be sure to have with you:
• Good Raingear
• Sunglasses
• Hat
• Camera
• Sunscreen
• Licenses
• Beverages and Snacks
